I'm a Senior Business Analyst at a New Zealand university. Most of the job is translation — making sense of complexity, then turning what people actually need into something a delivery team can build.

I got here from the other direction. Five years as a developer writing Python and web applications and administering servers, then owning a student management system on the client side, then analysis, and lately architecture and product ownership alongside it. Build, own, analyse, design, deliver — roughly in that order, which is why I can move between requirements and integration, or between a vendor conversation and the thing they've actually shipped.

Outside work I run a self-hosted environment — Proxmox and ZFS, MikroTik with VLAN segmentation, Home Assistant tying the house together, the fleet defined as code and the decisions written down. Same instinct as the day job, fewer stakeholders.

When I'm not in a terminal I'm most likely parenting — and in whatever is left over, VJing with Resolume, taking photos, and listening to far too many podcasts. Based in Ōtautahi / Christchurch, Aotearoa New Zealand.
